How to Make Low Carb Pizza Dough

Low Carb Pizza is a healthy alternative to the more popular high carb style pizza that you find in most restaurants these days. The only problem is that not everyone is aware of how healthy it really is. Not only does it contain too many carbs that make it extremely unhealthy, it also has tons of unhealthy fat from poor quality cheese. This old combination of bad carbohydrates and bad fats is what often makes favorite dishes taste so good.

To make your own low carb pizza, you will need some good foods like vegetables, some low carb ingredients, and a bit of low carb pizza sauce. You don’t have to go out of your way to buy good foods because you can always go to your pantry or your freezer to get what you need. Often times, just a couple of cans of tomato sauce, low fat milk, and some almonds cut into thin slices will be all you need. If you want to make some coconut flour pizza as an experiment, just take a couple of cans of coconut milk and a few tablespoons of almond flour and see what you get.

Another great recipe for a low carb friendly pizza is called a Fathead Pizza. This dish uses a cream cheese crust and low fat affiliate link on the top. You can put shredded chicken, shrimp, or even grilled or smoked pork chops on top and it will still be a very good dish. The key is to use shredded meats in moderation and stay away from canned chicken meats. If you make this delicious Fathead Pizza once a week, you’ll save lots of money in the long run because you will be burning fat instead of eating it.

To make the low carb pizza crust, you will need a pizza pan, some sliced bell pepper, a package of low carb shavings (more than you need), some shredded low fat cheese, medium-sized ripe tomatoes, and a whole lot of almond flour. Put the pepper and tomatoes on top of your prepared pizza pan and then layer the rest of the ingredients. Spread out the remaining half of the almond flour on top of the ingredients. Use your hands to smooth out the remaining dough. Cover the entire pizza with your homemade fathead or low carb pizza crust. Now sit back and enjoy your delicious new creation.

A good tip for any low carb pizza recipe is to always use some mozzarella cheese on top. However, if you are not a fan of mozzarella cheese then try using some Parmesan cheese. Either way you go, mozzarella and cream cheese are must haves in any low carb pizza recipe. In fact, they go hand in hand together and are absolutely delicious. When making your low carb pizza, be sure to keep an eye on the toppings and the amount of toppings you put on your pie. A good rule of thumb is to have about half a cup of mozzarella cheese on each plate.

Another important part of making a good pizza crust is rolling the dough with your hands. This might seem like a time consuming task, but it will save you a lot of time. The most important thing to remember when rolling your own crust is that you must have a floured surface. The next thing you want to do is take one of your hands and form a ball with it; this will help keep your crust from sticking together.

Once you have your floured ball, turn it over and flatten it out. Then take the food coloring of your choice and spray it in the ball so that it looks like regular pizza crust. You will now need to cut this down into halves. Next, take your two halves and put them onto a piece of wax paper and use your hands to mold them into your favorite toppings. By now you should have something that looks like we have mentioned above, but has the texture and elasticity of low carb pizza crust.

Now all you need to do is put your prepared fathead dough into the bottom of your oven or the microwave and let it sit for about five to ten minutes. After that, you can remove the pizza from the waxed plastic wrap and slice it up into your favorite toppings. Just make sure you bake it according to the package directions; you can bake it up at 350 if you prefer a crispy crust. After you have finished your delicious low carb pizza, just cover it tightly with your plastic wrap and it is ready to enjoy! Baking low carb pizza is not difficult, and it is definitely delicious!
